How we research, write, review, and correct.
NomadJapan publishes this policy so readers can judge our guides for themselves before acting on them. This page may be updated without notice.
Editorial principles
- Primary sources first. Numbers, periods, and eligibility rules in visa / immigration / tax / lease content are sourced from Japanese government publications β Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration Services Agency, Japan Tourism Agency, JNTO, and the relevant Japanese Embassy β and linked inline or in a "Sources" section.
- Original operator insight. Beyond summarising public sources, we add operator-verified detail β measured Wi-Fi speeds, desk and seating specifics, move-in steps, all-in pricing β so the article is useful for a 30+ day decision, not just for a 7-day visit.
- No absolute claims on visas, law, or tax. These depend on individual circumstances. We always pair an explanation with "verify with the official source" and a recommendation to consult a qualified professional when relevant.
Article lifecycle
- Pre-publication: internal review against the official sources, copy edit, and outbound-link health check.
- Review cadence: visa, tax, and legal content is reviewed at least every 6 months. Other content is reviewed at least every 12 months. The "Last reviewed" date in the byline always reflects the latest review.
- Emergency updates: if a rule or government publication changes, we update the affected articles within 14 days of detection and note the change at the top of the piece.
AI in the editorial workflow
We use AI for research summarisation, outlining, first drafts, repurposing into social posts, and translation between English and Japanese. Decisions about numbers, eligibility rules, citations of official sources, and the choice to publish are always made by human editors. We do not aim to scale shallow content with AI.
Disclaimer
All NomadJapan articles are general information and do not constitute legal, immigration, tax, or contractual advice. For decisions that depend on your specific situation (visa applications, lease terms, tax filings), please consult the relevant Japanese authority or a qualified professional β gyoseishoshi (administrative scrivener), bengoshi (lawyer), zeirishi (tax accountant), or shakai-hokenroumushi (labour and social security consultant).
Corrections and feedback
If you spot a factual error or an outdated rule, email concierge@ie-mirai.co.jp. We update the article's "Last reviewed" date and, where the correction is material, disclose the change in-line or in a footnote.
